Humans have always been fascinated by what lies in the depths of the oceans. In fact, we’ve taken our fascination up a notch and come up with underwater restaurants. Now, Europe is all set to open its first underwater restaurant which will also be the largest in the world.
Opening in Norway in spring of 2019, ‘Under’ is half sunken into the sea and has three-foot thick walls. Designed by Snohetta, the walls are made to protect the restaurant from water. The restaurant’s massive acrylic windows give an amazing view of the sea.
The building can easily accommodate 80-100 people at a time, and you can gaze out into the sea from the massive 36-feet-wide window in the dining room.
Chef Nicolai Ellitsgaard is a renowned chef and a very experienced one too. The chef offers a variety of dishes – starting with the appetizers like crispy seaweed bite shaped like a seashell. While seafood will be the star in the servings, the meat of locally raised wild sheep will also be available.
