Peskov: Georgia concerns Russia

Russia is watching the events in Georgia with great concern . This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by Reuters.

He made the comments after Georgia’s parliament, after three nights of protests, rejected a draft law similar to the “foreign agents” law that Russia has used to crack down on its opponents over the past decade.

According to him , Moscow has nothing to do with the situation in Georgia . Peskov highlighted the fact that Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili was visiting the United States this week.

It does not appeal to Georgians from Georgia. She addresses them from America. And here someone’s visible hand is trying to introduce an anti-Russian element again , explained Peskov. Yes, it is full of provocations, we are watching it very carefully and with great concern, he added.

Russia has long accused the US of fomenting revolutions in neighboring countries it considers its sphere of influence.

We recall that Georgia was gripped by protests caused by a controversial bill on foreign agents. There was even a fight in the Georgian parliament.
