Japanese automaker Toyota has issued a safety inspection recall of about 45,000 of its older vehicles in Finland due to ongoing issues with the vehicles’ airbags.
The recall includes Toyota’s Avensis, Corolla and Corolla Verso models manufactured between July 2002 through May 2007, according to the company. More detailed information on the specific vehicles affected by the inspection recall is available from Toyota here (in Finnish).
So far, however, the company said that it had only found five defective airbag systems in Finland, none of which caused an accident or other incident.
The company said it would invite owners of the affected vehicles for a safety inspection. If problems with the airbags are discovered the devices will be replaced for free.
More specifically, the recall affects Avensis models made between 2003-2007; Corollas produced in 2001-2004; Verso vehicles made in 2001-2004 and Yaris models made in 2001-2004.
