EU-Ukraine summit to discuss use of $300 billion of Russia’s frozen assets

At the EU-Ukraine summit on February 3, the prospect of using Russian assets frozen in the West will be discussed, a senior EU official told reporters in Brussels on Wednesday.

“Some people value frozen assets at $300 billion. We need to see how we can use them as part of the recovery (of Ukraine),” the source told media representatives, acquainting them on condition of anonymity with the agenda of the upcoming February 3 bilateral summit.

He said that the restoration of Ukraine is among the main topics for discussion at the summit, which, by prior announcement, will be held in Kyiv.
