The Baltic and Nordic Foreign Ministers to meet in Latvia

On 6 and 7 September 2023, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Baltic States and Nordic countries (NB8) will meet in Latvia. Latvia will be represented at the meeting by the Prime Minister, acting Foreign Minister Krišjānis Kariņš.

The meeting will address support for Ukraine and regional security, focusing on issues of energy security and hybrid threat, as well as cooperation between NB8 countries in international organisations.

It is planned that delegations will visit Cēsis, where they will meet with the Chairman of the City Council, Jānis Rozenbergs, and visit a company, SIA Defence Partnership Latvia.

The meeting will be concluded in Riga with a joint press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Latvia has assumed the coordination of NB8 cooperation in 2023. Latvia’s priorities in the NB8 coordination effort are related to the strengthening of a rules-based international order, military security and deterrence capabilities, and resilience.
